Assistant Excise Commissioner Rampreet Chauhan suspended

On the instructions of Mr. Nitin Agarwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Excise and Prohibition, Uttar Pradesh, Assistant Excise Commissioner Mr. Rampreet Chauhan has been suspended with immediate effect after being prima facie found to be involved in serious irregularities. Special Secretary, Excise, Mr. Divya Prakash Giri has been named as the investigating officer to investigate the matter.

The Excise Minister stated that Mr. Rampreet Chauhan’s involvement in the theft of 27,610 bulk LINA (Equatorial Units) during his tenure as Assistant Excise Commissioner at Star Light Brochem Ltd., Nawabganj Aswani, Gonda, in October 2024 has come to light. This is likely to result in significant revenue loss to the Excise Department. In light of this, orders have been issued to suspend Mr. Rampreet Chauhan, and Special Secretary, Excise Department, Mr. Divya Prakash Giri has been designated website as the investigating officer to investigate the matter. He stated that this action has been taken in accordance with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
